Sealing Mechanism: Utilizes a pressure-energized bonnet design where system pressure compresses a metallic Graphite-Stainless Steel Spiral Wound Gasket between the bonnet and body, enhancing sealing integrity as internal pressure rises.
Material: Forged steel body (ASTM A105) with extended Stellite 6 hard-faced trim for erosion resistance in high-velocity flow applications.
Bonnet Bolting: No external bolts; relies on a self-adjusting gland follower and tapered wedge system to maintain uniform gasket compression under thermal cycling.
End Connections: Butt weld (BW) ends per ASME B16.25, ensuring full penetration weld compatibility with high-pressure piping systems.
Stem Design: Non-rising rotating stem with integral backseat for dual sealing during full-open positions.
Disc & Seat: Conical disc-to-seat geometry with 30° tapered seating surfaces, achieving Class V shutoff per API 598.
Packing System: Live-loaded Flexible Graphite Packing reinforced by a lantern ring for steam/chemical service up to 1000°F (540°C).
1. Flow Regulation: Linear motion of the disc (driven by a handwheel or actuator) modulates flow by altering the annular space between the disc and seat.
2. Pressure-Activated Sealing:
- At ambient conditions, initial gasket compression is achieved via the gland follower.
- As system pressure increases (up to 2500 PSI), fluid pressure acts on the bonnet’s tapered surface, forcing the gasket into tighter contact with the body-bonnet interface.
3. Thermal Compensation: During temperature fluctuations, thermal expansion of the bonnet assembly maintains consistent gasket load, preventing leakage.
Zero-Leakage Performance:
- Pressure-assisted sealing ensures leak-free operation even under extreme thermal/pressure cycling (per API 602).
- Stellite-coated trim resorts to erosion in steam/condensate applications.
Durability in Harsh Conditions:
Forged steel construction withstands water hammer and cyclic stresses in power plant turbine bypass systems.
BW ends eliminate flange leakage risks common in Class 2500 services.
Maintenance Efficiency:
Self-compensating bonnet eliminates bolt re-torquing during operation.
Live-loaded packing reduces fugitive emissions (compliant with ISO 15848-1).
Versatility:
Suitable for superheated steam, hydrocarbon processing, and high-pressure boiler feedwater systems.
Optional bellows seal or extended bonnet for cryogenic or high-temperature vertical installations.
